Agent orange is a chemical weapon that is used in Vietnam. Vietcong (Vietnamese communists) were trying to avoid agent orange to earn food and crops. The USA has been used this chemical weapon sprayed in total about 24,000 Km2 and 6 million.
For this agent orange cause a serious problem of medical problem.Vietnam and 154 non-Vietnam veterans were included in this studies to investigate. Exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam was to structure of the service in the participants of history was assessed in depth interview. Health outcomes by a clinical expert group standard was evaluated by a comprehensive clinical investigation. Differences in the prevalence of various medical diagnostic Cochran - Fireplace - Hansel Chi-square tests to compare the level of exposure of Vietnam veterans and, adjusted for age were evaluated.
. America has sprayed 44million liters of defoliants on Vietnam’s main tactics area. It is known that these defoliants contain 170kg dioxin which is known to be very harmful to human body.
However, by the test using animal models, they have found that dioxin, the microscopic impurities while creating defoliants, causes various cancers and nerve palsy to human body. Although monsanto, the company that created Agent Orange, didn’t inform the US army about how much damage Agent Orange could give. They said that they are completely safe on human body. Even the American soldiers were told that they are safe. This resulted in being soaked by the A.O. These soldiers all became a patient of dioxin. Many of these soldiers died because of this. Soldiers sewed Monsanto for this incident. However, Monsanto said that dioxin is around everywhere, and the A.O had no problem.
During the Vietnam War, 80million liters of defoliants were sprayed on 3.3Million ha of forests and grasslands which resulted in intoxicating over 3000 towns. 60% of the defoliants were A.O which is equal to 400kg of dioxin. According to the statistics of New York Columbia University’s study in 2003, blending 80g of dioxin to drinking water, it can remove a city with 8million residents.

Dioxins are highly toxic that only small amount will cause cancer. They don’t even decompose naturally. They usually get in to organisms by in foreign substances, and dust in air. Moreover, they don’t dissolve well in water, but fat. Therefore, as soon as they get in to our body, they accumulate in our body. However, it takes about 7.5years for dioxins to reduce 50%. Its effect to our body is also terrifying. For men, it decreases the amount of sperm, and ability to create sperm. For women, it makes them impossible to get pregnant, or at least hard to get pregnant. This kind of physiological problems not only affect the current generation, but also future generations.
Agent Orange was made by the company called Monsanto. Company workers knew that it was really harmful for human body. However they kept it secret and traded with America. In 1871, America had spread about four thousand ton Agent Orange until 1871 and 60% of all agents were Agent Orange which is equal to 400kg of dioxin. However America had gone through the experiment with Agent Orange that they found out that it is really harmful. Later America stopped trading with Monsanto and it went to bankrupt.
A lot of people who were affected by Agent Orange were paid about hundred eighty million. Those people were involved in the Vietnam War and they suffered from having physical or mental problem. More than seven companies which supplied Agent Orange to America. Those companies were so that infected or affected people could be paid.
In fact, 12 soldiers who participated in the Vietnam War are currently suffering from the defoliants. In 1993 on 15th of January, people who are suffering with side effects of defoliants had been tested in physically and the result showed that 12 of 238 people had serious problem. These people could get a inspection for free and were paid from thirty one hundred thousand to fifty six hundred thousand won.
